Grants/Funding For School Visits

Do you need financial assistance to get an author or illustrator to visit your school? If so, please check out these handy links to find out more about the grants and funding available to you.

If you know of any grants or funding available for school visits, both in Oklahoma and nationally, please send them to
OCAI. If we post your information we'll send you a FREE autographed book from one of our authors or illustrators.  Now that's something to smile about!   :)

Also, when trying to schedule an author/illustrator visit, many schools team up with their local community for sponsorship, such as grocery stores, banks, businesses.  Often, businesses are looking for ways to promote their services AND to help their community at the same time so an author/illustrator visit could be just they type of promotion they are looking for.

NEW GRANT FOR THE  2011-12 SCHOOL YEAR

EVERY SCHOOL'S A WINNER GRANT     ----Deadline November 1, 2011--a continuing grant you can apply for each year.

OCAI is kicking off the new school year with a great grant----$250.00 to be used for an author/illustator visit from one of our many OCAI authors/illustators. And every school who enters wins a free autographed book!

Applying is easy as 1-2-3:

1.  Create a fun bulletin board with "We love Oklahoma Children's Authors & Illustators!" featuring photos of some of our authors/illustators and their books.
2.  Snap a photo and send to OCAI with your name, school's name, & name of the author/illustrator you want to invite to your school.
3.  OCAI will choose the winner by the most imaginative bulletin board.  Winners will be announced in October/November.  Winning photo will be posted on the OCAI web site along with the name of the school who won!

What a great way to kick off the new year! Pass it on...this great grant is good for out of state schools, too!

Arts Education in Schools

The Oklahoma Arts Council supports quality arts education for all K-12 students in every Oklahoma public and private, non-religious school.

The Council provides on-going assistance to non-profit community organizations with arts education programs that interface with schools. The Council provides technical expertise and assistance for educational institutions, arts instructors and non-profit organizations to help in their efforts to:
  • develop fundamental concepts in order to create quality arts education programs
  • develop methods of evaluation for arts education programs
  • increase access to the Council's programs and services

NEW - Small Grant Support for Schools

Schools who want to bring the arts into their classrooms have a new funding opportunity from the Oklahoma Arts Council. The Small Grant Support for Schools allows schools to apply for funds directly from the Council and does not require them to work through their district. This grant also requires schools to match only 25% of the total requested amount.
